Garage Door Openers & Parts
If your garage door opener can be repaired we will offer you that option or if we think it is beyond repair we will offer you a new opener. There are so many different manufacturers we will not bore you with all of them. But, to demonstrate, we work with: Chamberlain, Genie, Liftmaster, Craftmaster, plus. Some are better quality than others and we will go over these options with you in person.
The main factors to consider when choosing a garage door are the following:
Belt drive garage door openers are the quietest and most dependable openers available. Accordingly, they are also the most expensive. If there are bedrooms above or near the garage door, or a living room for that matter then this is the way to go.
Warrantees come with all purchases of our openers, they may differ depending on the manufacturer, we will go over this prior to installation.
Chain drive garage door openers are the norm for garage doors. Your grandparents probably had a chain drive. They are very reliable and less expensive than the belt drive, which makes them more appealing. If you are price sensitive then this would be the best option for you.
Direct Drive or Jackshift
This is a specialty garage door opener he is mounted to the wall next to the garage door. This uses less ceiling space so if you have different ceiling levels this is a great option.
Garage Door Parts
The door and the opener are obvious factors when looking at a garage door, however, there are many parts that need to be replaced to elongate the life of your garage door and opener and they are very important for the integrity of your home.
Without springs the door will not go up. They provide torsion to the door to allow the opener (or human for that matter) to lift the door. If you think your springs are broken, please do not run your opener because you can cause more damage. Please contact us immediately and we will come out and take a look. Springs are very dangerous because of the high torsion, please don’t touch.
Rollers move the door along the garage door track and allow it to raise and close uniformly. Broken rollers can cause the door to get stuck on the track, can make noises and can even cause the door to fall outright. Again, please don’t touch the rollers you can get hurt or you can cause more damage. Please contact us and we will come out and service your door.
The torsion cables connect the door to the torsion springs system. If these are broken the door will not move. These can snap and are very high strength please don’t touch if you suspect something is awry with your torsion cables. Contact us with any questions or concerns.
These plates hold the bar that in turn hold the torsion springs. These can bend which lessens their strength and then can in turn affect the springs and cables.
The torsion cables wrap around the drum when the door is lifting. When your cables age or wear then they can snap or wrap around the drum incorrectly and halt your door. Please do not touch because these are all connected and you can get hurt if unfamiliar with the system. Please call us and we will help you.
Lube and Calibration
Just like your bicycle or car, your opener needs to be calibrated and lubricated on a regular basis for optimal performance and longevity.
